The artists of our family

You may have wondered where those beautiful flowers on the cover of the invitation you received came from (which, by the way, also doubled as a favour – just so you know). Well, when it came to finding a piece of art we loved for the occasion, we didn’t have to look far, because art has always lived in our home. We have been breathing the poetic spirit since childhood, thanks to those who are the true artists of our family: our dads.

While Antonio, despite never having attended an art school, was a passionate experimenter with painting techniques from a very young age, Emilio discovered his true calling when he was “less young”, joining the classical guitar class at the Parma Conservatory three years ago. By now he has performed in numerous solo and chamber music concerts, always taking centre stage (and of course making mum sit through all of them…). Likewise, Antonio’s countless paintings and prints are proudly exhibited in prestigious venues throughout Puglia and beyond (as well as on the walls of our home).

But the true inspiration I mentioned at the beginning is not about any specific art form. Music and painting can certainly produce great works, but what we have learned and cherished from our fathers since childhood – and now more than ever – is the awareness that every gesture in our daily lives can become true art. Art is in the attitude, not in the result. Simple gestures that each of us can make every day, such as…

baking bread, …

cycling, …

entertaining a granddaughter, …

eating an apple on the train, …

hugging a mother-in-law, …

posing for an artistic nude in the wilderness,

if done with care and awareness, can really lead to that fullness of life, that joy in the everyday, which we believe is ultimately the ideal expression of any artistic ceremony.

Best of luck with your careers!
